So Far, So Good

Overall, I am pleased with my new GE fridge. My big complaint is that it took a long time to actually receive the refrigerator. I ordered it on June 29th and delivery was supposed to be mid-July, but it was delayed. Then it was supposed to be delivered in early August, but was delayed once again. It took a total of 7 weeks to receive the fridge. This was not the fault of the store that I purchased it from; it was delayed by GE. This was very frustrating since my other refrigerator was no longer functioning! So far, I am pleased with this French Door refrigerator. I love how the shelves and door storage compartments are adjustable and I have so much more room for items compared to the side-by-side that came with the house that we purchased. The dividers in the freezer compartment are rather loose and slide around when bumped, but can be removed, if I choose. The unit seems to be quiet and it cooled down quickly once plugged in. I just wish that GE offered a French Door fridge between 33 and 35 inches.

2.5, I™€™d call it half. Does not look the like photo. Looks more black stainless than flat black. Shows every finger print. I think it runs much louder than my past fridge which drive insane. Not worth $2,000, should be much cheaper. The inside is set up the way I wanted. Can™€™t return so that also really bugs me too.

Refrigerator was installed 3 days ago. I ordered this GE fridge directly from the GE appliances website. Installation & haul away was done by their team. Excellent experience from start to finish. Chris & Steve took great care with taking out old fridge & bringing in new one. My questions were answered clearly. Great having a team that had experience & knew exactly what they were doing. I appreciated the day before delivery window call & the day of "will be there in 30 minutes" call. Love my new fridge so far. No complaints. LED lights in fridge & freezer areas are great. Icemaker works well. My old fridge had an outside water & ice dispenser. Loved it. This one has freezer icemaker bin & inside water dispenser. Getting used to this. Water dispenser will be easier to clean & keep clean.

Nothing But Problems after the Initial Warranty

GE refrigerator model number GNE25JGKBB, French Door Bottom Freezer, don™€™t buy it or you™€™ll regret it. As soon as the initial GE warranty expired, handles started falling off the refrigerator. Ice cubes fall out of the rear of the freezer onto the floor when you open the bottom freezer door. GE claimed this was not their responsibility since these were predominantly cosmetic, freezer handles falling off, ice cubes falling out. Seems like they may be poor design issues. We unfortunately signed up for multiyear maintenance agreement through GE to maintain the refrigerator after the initial warranty expired. This was a major waste of money because the insurance company didn™€™t provide a phone number to call and all you could interact with was their AI bot. After many hours of trying to find a phone number, I got one. The bottom line from the insurer was that my refrigerator wasn™€™t working and the soonest they could schedule one of their techs would be in three weeks. Now that is great customer service, waste of money and hours spent trying to contact them. We ended up having a reliable local appliance tech come out, within 4 hours, to service the refrigerator. I asked him, would you buy a GE appliance, his response was unequivocally no. He said they used to have high-quality products when their appliances were made in the United States. Now most are apparently made overseas, the quality and reliability have dropped significantly. Plus, they™€™re very hard to maintain. So, I hope this helped you decide on what you purchase, because I have had a nightmare with this refrigerator and its maintenance. I can™€™t recommend or would I buy another GE appliance. Cheap labor costs can equate to poor quality!

I wish the temperature setting was different. The gauge is vague & annoying. It would be nice if there was two separate gauges, one for freezer ,one for fridge. Don't care for the digital with a thermometer to see what the actual temperature is. Also seems very noisy, took a while to get used to the noise. But love the double doors, the shelf that slides back under the other very nice. Ice maker works well although I wish the control for the ice maker was easier to see & not way in the rear of the freezer, very hard to reach. Other than those few issues I like the fridge, it looks nice & keeps food cold.

Fits space perfectly most other Refrigerators are now too big or too small, This one fits in my cabinet space. Clean look like the well lit inside. Lights take a second to turn on when the doors open but once on they make it easy to see all contents. Easy to set up. Came with extra shelves for doors but they made it hard to get large items in and out of the shelves. (1 Gal milk, 2 liter soda )

Wanted to love this but just do not. It definitely does not seem to have the space and capacity of the LG that I had previously for 10 years. They look identical (almost) but everything inside seems smaller, shorter, narrower etc. The water dispenser inside is ridiculous and it takes a long time to fill a glass as you are standing with the door open, letting all the cold air out. It is a total waste. I thought GE was a reputable name but am truly disappointed with this product. Sadly, I am stuck with it for as long as it lasts as my budget does not support buying another one just because I don't like it.

I think the capacity is small. Not as big as my previous refrigerator but I will make it work. Shelving is glass and should work. I do not like the little shelves that fit in the door because they are hard to get in and out. Of course this is my first day. Once I get my items organized it will probably be ok. The freezer is really small and the ice cube maker is so far back I will have to get on my knees if I have to adjust anything. The plus side if that it fits in my space very good.

I am feeling like I would like to get rid of this refrigerator. The Handle has already come off several times and the refrigerator makes strange noises that sound like an owl picking on a tree. It has various sounds and the volume goes up and down at times when it runs. I thought it was raining on the roof of the house and it turned out it was just the refrigerator running.

I love this refrigerator (all we hoped for), but lately our ice maker keeps getting ice cubes stuck and now dropping in the bucket (they are coming out sideways and getting stuck). Sadly we rarely have ice because of this issue. We have had this frig about 6 months. I have a Tri-Athlete in my home and we use a lot of ice. This is becoming very frustrating. Why is the ice maker having issues with the ice cubes being released? Otherwise the size is awesome and love it!

We love, love, love this refrigerator! It holds so much and is well lit. We keep all of our beverages on one door and all of the condiments and salad dressings on the other door. The freezer compartment holds a lot. The water dispenser works well, doesn™€™t drip and the water comes out cold. I bought this on line through Homedepot. I paid for set up. The set up guys tried to install the water line to my existing copper tubing. They lacked the skills to do so. We ended up with a tremendous leak. We had to hire a plumber. Be prepared if you have older plumbing in your house. Some delivery teams aren™€™t very well trained in installation.

Freezer Door Handle is a hazard

As others have also said the freezer door handle is a safety hazard. It continuously slips off the brackets when pulling out the drawer. Mine finally broke off the brackets and I haven't found a way to.replace them.

Doing what a refrigerator is supposed to

Everything is functioning well so far (it was just installed today) and there is good use of space inside. Because it was just installed this morning and it says it will take 24 hours, I am still waiting for ice cubes - so can't report on how well that is doing. However, I would give it 4 stars because it is doing what a refrigerator is supposed to do, however the quality of the plastic shelves (on the doors especially) is very flimsy and feels like it could break & scratch very easily when cleaning. I also wish that it was just a little quieter or that it would occasionally be completely silent - tho perhaps that is just because it's trying to make ice cubes - but it isn't too bad. It just seems like a $1500+ refrigerator should use slightly higher quality materials, but I guess that is just the way of the world.

I waited four months 2024 to get this refrigerator from the manufacture. I love the GE sleek, clear glass led lighting inside the refrigerator. Needed to get a smaller one 24.7 cu ft due to limited space in my home. I wanted the ice dispenser on the door, another size would be too wide and not able to open the 2 doors evenly. However, this size, looks, color, brand all work the best and I love the glossy black color. It was worth the wait!!

I love this refrigerator. I had a side-by-side refrigerator before and couldn't stand it. I finally broke down and bought this beginning of December and couldn't be more thrilled. I did so much research and finally decided on this one. I need black appliances and this refrigerator is beautiful!! I specifically wanted the ice maker inside the freezer and nothing on the outside. The ice maker works great, and I like that the water dispenser is on the inside. There is so much room inside this I don't think I'll ever be able to fill it. At first, I was kind of concerned that I wouldn't be able to put anything tall in this like a gallon of milk or my filtered water pitcher, then I realized that one of the shelves slides back. Brilliant! The things I don't like about it which make me give it 3 stars. It's so loud! I seriously can't believe how loud this thing is. It's to the point of annoying. It occasionally shuts off, but it runs more often, and I seriously want to pull my hair out. It's hard to ignore, I guess if you turn the tv up louder it will drown it out. The other thing I don't like, but I can live with it is the door shelves. There's just not enough space for tall items in the door. They should have gotten rid of the mini shelf at the bottom and made it a full shelf. As of right now the mini shelf is hidden by the larger shelf, so it's great for hiding things.

Freezer handle breaks off easily and repeatedly.

This freezer handle is a safety hazard and injury risk. My freezer handle has broken 3 times. I have fallen on my butt when the handle had come off in my hands. My elderly mother almost injured herself on it when it broke off in her hands . I have had the fridge for a while. It works great. The handle has been an issue the whole time. I replaced it six months after buying it. I replaced it again a few months later. It broke again about six month later. I used it without a handle for a while. Then got tired of that and I replaced the brackets again. Then replaced the whole handle. It worked for about a year but slid off the brackets regularly and had to open it very carefully. Then the thing broken again on Thanksgiving when my elderly mother when to open the freezer. So I am now Trying to replace it again. And I am unable to find the brackets for it . Why the cheap plastic brackets? It™€™s terrible. I have replace the handle and brackets each time and they still break. I™€™m so frustrated! I™€™ve spend over $150 replacing the handle and brackets. I noticed a stainless steel version has a recall but not this one. I don™€™t want to buy a new appliance to avoid getting hurt by my freezer, but I might and it wont be a GE.

Sleek, strong design!

So far, this refridgerator freezer is working well. We have it for a week. It fits in our space perfectly. I really appreciate the additional lighting to be able to see everything, even in the drawers. The handles and doors feel strong and am hopeful that it will hold up to our 14 yr old son. The ice maker works very well! My concern is the plastic bins in the freezer not holding up. Time will tell. Overall, we are very pleased with this purchase!

Got this refrigerator as a replacement for a 2.5 year old Kenmore refrigerator that stopped working. After 4 months of Sears giving me the runaround of attempting to repair it and finally being unable to get a part for the repair. That took 2 months and a no show by a Sears repairman. Finally ended up with a choice of several brands that Sears cares. Spoke with local repair companies and no one within the area would service any of the brands Sears carries. Didn™€™t really want anything to do with Sears again but my only option. They wouldn™€™t give me a cash settlement. During my 4 month wait I purchased a Whirlpool from a local distributor that would be serviced if needed. Beware of what you purchase. Only had this refrigerator for a month. Time will tell if it keeps working but will likely scrap it then trying to get it repaired.

Good storage layout

Our black french-door refrigerator looks good in our kitchen, and I've been satisfied with the layout of storage space. I especially like the meat/cheese drawer on the bottom. It's shallow and is the entire width of the fridge, which means that items won't get pushed to the back and bottom, as in my previous deeper meat drawer. I would recommend this refrigerator to a friend.

NEVER-ENDING BUZZING/HUMMING NOISE

Just got this delivered on 10/4/24 after waiting over a month for it. Love the design and features but IT MAKES SUCH A LOUD NEVER-ENDING BUZZING/HUMMING NOISE and it never stops. Nothing is vibrating inside against something else. Assuming the unit never shuts off after it reaches its desired temp bc this keeps humming, how is this energy efficient? My 20-yr old Amana (same style with fridge on top) was a beast and so well made. Makes me so sad we couldn™€™t get the part anymore to fix it. So quiet and reliable™€¦. If you have an open floor plan home or a child with sensory issues, this is NOT the fridge for you!! Sadly, hoping to return the unit and look for something else. C™€™mon GE, you didn™€™t catch this in the design process?
